Bruce Strachan has provided a copy of a booklet entitled The Art of Delivery by Maxwell Walker which was published in New Zealand in 1933. Having quickly browsed through it, much of its advice is quite relevant today although the writer is strongly of the view that you should never bowl with anything less than a size 5 bowl.

The finals of both the Mens’ and Women’s Major Singles competitions were played on Wednesday, 23 June. In the Men’s competition Neil Gosbell outplayed Phil Lewis to take out the Club Champion title for this year. The Women’s competition saw Monika Fluckiger defeat Lap Chen.

The Super Six Sets Carnival event was held on Friday, 21 May (the only rainy day during a 3-week period). Despite the less than ideal weather everything went off well and the club’s bank account is as a result about $1200 better off. The overall winners were a team from Seaforth/Dee Why with the runners-up being a team from West Pymble.

The Consistency Singles final between Roger Parks and Rob Duthie has been delayed but is now scheduled to be played on Wednesday, 19 May. The final of the Major Pairs saw Bob Paterson & Roger Parks narrowly defeat Neil Gosbell & Willie Mok in what could almost be termed as a “nail-biting finish”.
